Questions about community work
- Which WordCamps have you organised?
- WordCamp Ahmedabad in 2023 and again in 2025, and Do Action Ahmedabad in 2024. I have also attended WordCamp Udaipur 2023, WordCamp Surat 2025 and WordCamp Asia 2026 in Mumbai.
- What does organising a WordCamp actually involve?
- Venue, sponsors, speaker selection, schedule, volunteers, budget and the logistics on the day – all run by volunteers alongside full-time jobs, under WordPress Foundation guidelines. It is closer to running a small conference company for six months than to giving a talk.
- Why does community work matter for engineering?
- Because it is the fastest correction mechanism available. Explaining an architectural decision to people who build differently exposes the assumptions you did not know you were making, and the WordPress ecosystem you build on is maintained by the same volunteer structure these events run on.
- Do you contribute to WordPress core or the plugin ecosystem?
- Contributions and profile activity are on my WordPress.org profile, which is linked in the footer of every page on this site. Open-source engineering work also lives on GitHub.
Building something that has to hold up?
Platform architecture, performance work, commerce engineering, SaaS builds, or an integration nobody wants to own – tell me the problem and the constraint.
